Inaugurated in 2001, the new winery was designed to establish a harmonious balance between oenology, architecture and sustainability. These elements have come together to create a temple of winemaking that remains at the forefront of the International Wine Market.

The facilities materialize the shared vision of the renowned architect Riojano Ignacio Quemada, the company's Director of Operations, Fernando Pozo, and our winemaker Elena Adell, achieving the perfect balance between the 3 fundamental pillars in which the winery is supported.

The vineyard on which Azpilicueta is based is the vineyard of Fuenmayor. We grow over 800 hectares. in their different places.

The Fuenmayor vineyard is implanted in an irregular topography, at different altitudes, in a large mixture of soils, with different orientations. This results in many microclimates and, consequently, in the same variety being expressed in very different ways.

From all the plots, we select each vintage that will produce the grapes to make Azpilicueta.

We control each of the plots, its pruning, the evolution of its vegetative cycle, the advancement of maturity, we taste its grapes and determine the time of harvest for each plot.

We also have 24 Viura plots spread over various points of the denomination of Origin, focusing on the middle strip of the territory.
