VIÑA ALBINA is a brand belonging to Bodegas Riojanas with more than a century of wine tradition in its cenicero winery.

Its corners are impregnated with history and tell us about the passion that has been lived in it for the ageing of its wines.

This tradition and passion have been passed on to the current team of Bodegas Riojanas who consider the commitment to the quality and personality of their wines to be the most precious heritage.

The Artacho family already had a deep wine tradition when in 1890 they founded Bodegas Riojanas along with Rafael Carreras.

Signs of this tradition are the stone gate which in 1799 allowed access to the Family Vineyards and which is now preserved at the entrance of the Cenicero winery and especially the awards given to its wines prior to that foundation, such as the Gold Medal of the Universal Exhibition of Barcelona in 1888.
Monte Real, The Vineyards passion for the land

Bodegas Riojanas controls over 100 hectares. Of the best vineyards in Cenicero, San Vicente de la Sonsierra and nearby towns. The grapes that are par excellence harvested in Rioja are Tempranillo, but Bodegas Rioja also has one of the largest extensions dedicated to Mazuelo and Graciano within the denomination, varieties that bring a greater personality to the wines it produces.

The different plots of vineyards are located on clay-calcareous soils, of miocenic origin, ideal to produce the highest qualities.
At the beginning of October, after the heat of the vineyard, the harvest is carried out, which is more than just the harvest of the grapes. The choice of the optimal moment for the collection, the productivity of the vines, the selection of the grape consignments destined to produce the different types of wine of the winery… Everything will influence the characteristics and final quality of the wines obtained.

The consignments of grapes from old vineyards are collected in boxes, to prevent the pressure produced by the weight from breaking the grapes and reaching the winery in the best conditions. Once there, they undergo a meticulous manual selection cluster by cluster, thus producing the wines that constitute the highest quality exponent of Rioja wineries.
