Our history

Agriculture

Carlos Almarcha Riquelme inherited from his father and grandfather the love of Agriculture and five hectares of land on his farm Las Contiendas (Abanilla), where he now cultivates fruit trees and olive trees.

Carlos and his father on the tractor. He has been involved in organic farming since 1995, being one of the pioneers in the region of Murcia. His main idea was that his family should not consume toxic products.

Organic farming is characterised by:

Do not use synthetic chemicals such as fertilizers, antibiotics or pesticides in crops.
Respect the biological cycles of plants.
The high quality of food, since it is free from toxic waste harmful to health and preserves all medicinal and nutritional properties.
Be environmentally friendly.

On his farm hedges with aromatic plants that act as repellent, takes away weeds with the hoe and pays with goat and sheep manure, because those of hen, cow and pig have excessive antibiotics.

In 1996, with the aim of making the most of all fruit production, since in foreign markets the most mature fruit has no place for aesthetic reasons, Carlos began to think about other forms of marketing for fruit. These include the processing of organic jams.

Thus he began to make organic jams artistically, stirring the pot by hand to reach the optimum point. The only raw materials that it has always used are organic fruit itself and organic brown sugar cane, without adding water, which would result in more jam but less quality.

These products began to be marketed under the name “Los Majos " (family nickname for which they are well known in the region).

At that time, he also began to make his own extra-ecological virgin olive oil, creating an ecological mill near the Chícamo River, one of the most striking scenarios in the region.

Towards 2012, one of its most innovative and exclusive products, the sweet vintage vinegar of organic fig, was created. This product was born by chance, as it was trying to make Fig wine but became vinegar. When we tested it, we saw it was great.

The vinegar produced stays 12 months in oak barrels. The result is a very aromatic and tasty vinegar. After the success of this first variety, sweet vintage vinegar of paraguayo ecológico and quince have been produced.

In this journey, our ecological fruit has always been the protagonist.

All our products are certified by The Organic Agriculture Council of the region of Murcia.
