Vintage Gran Vos Reserva 2012 Viñas del Vero Somontano
The harvest will always be remembered for having to be conducted after a summer “record” of heat.
The cause of this advancement, as in almost all the south of Europe has been the extraordinary heat experienced in the month of August.
At Viñas del Vero, the grape harvest began on the midnight of the 20th of August with the Chardonnay from Torre Lapiedra.
it Is noteworthy that the weather was extreme during the whole year.
The winter was very cold with heavy rain.
The period prior to flowering is characterized by mild temperatures, abundant rainfall and wind continued in the central hours of the day.
As a result, there was a vigorous growth of the plants keeping the water reserves of the soil.
For all of this limited the development of fungal diseases and contributed to the absence of pests.
frost adhered to virtually all of the payments.
For what it took to progress the work of “briba” (removal of the outbreaks leftovers to control the production).
therefore led to the flowering of the varieties at the end of may and beginning of June.
The force of the vineyard and the weather allowed for a good fruit set in all varieties, which made us to foresee a great harvest in quantity.
however, due to the conditions of exceptional heat and lack of rain (1.6 mm of rain, temp. average 26,2 ° C and temp. maximum 37,1 ºC), we have received a few grapes especially concentrated and healthy.
The harvest finished on October 6 with the last of our grapes of Garnachas in Secastilla.

The best grapes from our vineyards are selected for the elaboration of this Viñas del Vero Gran Vos Reserva.
The first grapes were harvested in early September, and the last, the first week of October.
as we move forward with the harvest, we were transporting the grapes to the winery in small boxes of about 12 k to avoid damaged the grapes.
There started the development, despalillando the grapes and squeezing the berries.
The fermentations were soft, slow and long, of twenty days, to extract the maximum potential from the precious grapes that we had introduced in each of the tanks.
Subsequently, each of the wines performed the malolactic fermentation takes place spontaneously and, after cleaning naturally, were introduced into oak barrels where they remained for 15 months.
