Secastilla gives us the opportunity to enjoy the expression of the Garnacha strain old grown in height.

The 2011 harvest has been the most early of those made by Viñas del Vero in its 25 years of history.

the extreme conditions of The year 2011, their average temperatures, scarcity of rainfall, the thermal stress of the vineyard, the absence of fungal diseases (mildiuoidio – botritys), and the low virulence of pests, we have
allowed us to obtain a harvest, perfectly healthy,with a good balance of ripeness, acidity and colour.

The vintage began on the 16th of August in our vineyards of Pinot Noir, Merlot and Chardonnay, that we did not want to give more days to preserve its acidity.

we Continue, as begun September with Tempranillo, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc, Gewürztraminer and Riesling.

In the second decade of September, the same Cabernet Sauvignon and Macabeo to finish off the vintage cabando the month with the native varieties and planted at higher altitudes: Garnacha Blanca, Garnacha Tinta, Moristel and Parraleta.

The grape harvest was completed on the 25th of September after 40 intense days, only punctuated by a day of rain, with a health status impeccable.

Formulation: The strains of Garnacha from the valley of Secastilla, formed in glass, is gathered manually at the end of September.

At the foot of the vineyard, we carry out the destemming, vatting and cooling of the grape, for, later, make a pre-fermentation maceration which lasted for three days.

The fermentation is developed at a temperature less than 25ºC, and the resulting wine is introduced in new barrels of French oak for a minimum of ten months.

Finally, the wine was bottled in may of 2014.

Characteristics of the vineyard :

The payments of the valley of Secastilla are located in the extreme northeast of Somontano and meet a special mediterranean microclimate.

On the rocky slopes above 700 meters above sea level, we have recovered the vineyards of very old Garnacha, a traditional variety of the valley of Secastilla.

The relative altitude, and its special orientation, make it an area with many hours of sunshine, which favors the ripening of the fruit.
