The art of making wine in the Ribera del Duero

The history of the Ribera del Duero has been parallel to the Union of the vineyard and wine, the fruit of strains that mark its landscape, the personality of its people and its culture.

It is necessary to go back no less than 2,000 years to find the first wine reference of the area: a Roman mosaic of 66 square meters, considered the largest piece with basquic allegories of the peninsula, which was discovered in Baños de Valdearados during the harvest of 1972.

The designation of Origin, as we know it today, arises after the initiative of a series of winemakers and winemakers concerned to promote the vineyards and the quality of the wines of the Ribera del Duero.

The first record in the books of the Regulatory Council dates from 23 July 1980, when the regulatory body acted on a provisional basis.

Two years later, on 21 July 1982, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and food granted the Ribera del Duero the designation of Origin and approved its first regulation.

Since then, the implementation of new cultivation practices, the introduction of the most modern technologies for wine making and the rigorous control processes applied since the Regulatory Board has made the Ribera del Duero is synonymous with quality.
